High-Voltage 11kV Polymer Expulsion Dropout Fuse Cutout Switch

The Drop-out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout stand as essential high-voltage protective devices designed for outdoor use. These devices are integral for the protection of distribution transformers and lines, safeguarding them against short circuits and overloads while managing the on/off loading of current. The drop-out fuse cutout system features insulative supports and a robust fuse tube, with static contacts securely affixed on either side of the insulator support. Additionally, a moving contact is positioned at each end of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself comprises a durable inner arc-extinguishing layer encased in an outer shell made of phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass. The load switching fuse cutout is enhanced with resilient elastic auxiliary contacts and a specialized arc-extinguishing enclosure, enabling efficient switching of loading currents.
Under normal operating conditions, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a stable, closed position. Should a fault occur in the system, the ensuing fault current will instantly melt the fuse, generating an electric arc. This arc heats the arc-extinguishing tube, causing it to release a substantial volume of gas, which in turn creates high pressure to extinguish the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the mechanism that releases the fuse tube into an open position. To manually switch off during load conditions, operators can use an insulated operating bar to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain connected. Upon further pulling, the auxiliary contacts separate, creating an electric arc that is lengthened within the arc-extinguishing enclosure. Concurrently, the arc-extinguishing gas is expelled to extinguish the arc, especially as the current approaches zero.
