33kv Polymeric Expulsion Fuse Cut Out Switch

The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout stand as vital outdoor high-voltage protective devices. Seamlessly connecting with incoming feeders of distribution transformers or lines, they play a crucial role in safeguarding transformers or lines from short circuits and overloads, while efficiently managing on/off loading currents. The ingenious design of the drop-out fuse cutout features an insulator support, fuse tube, and static contacts fixed on both sides of the insulator support, complemented by a moving contact at each end of the fuse tube. This tube, crafted from an inner arc-extinguishing component, encapsulates an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load-switching fuse cutout is further enhanced with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring seamless on-off loading current operations.
During standard operations, the fuse tube, secured by a tightened fuse link, is locked in a closed position. Upon encountering faults, the fault current promptly melts the fuse link, initiating an electric arc. This causes the arc-extinguishing tube to heat up and release a surge of gas, creating high pressure that propels the arc along the tube. With the fuse link melted, the moving contact loses its tension, causing the mechanism to unlock and the fuse tube to drop out, shifting the cutout to its open position. For switching off during loading, operators use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged. As the pulling progresses, the auxiliary contact disconnects, generating an electric arc lengthened within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap, while the arc-extinguishing gases quench the arc as the current nears zero.
