Outdoor Porcelain Ceramic Drop-Out Fuse Cutout for Electric Power Transformer

The Drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are essential high-voltage protective devices crafted for outdoor applications. Designed to seamlessly integrate with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines, they are pivotal in safeguarding transformers and lines from short circuits and overloads, as well as facilitating the on/off loading of current. The construction of a drop-out fuse cutout includes insulated insulator supports paired with a fuse tube. Static contacts are securely fixed to both sides of the insulator support, while the moving contact is strategically installed at both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself comprises an inner arc-extinguishing tube, an outer phenolic compound paper tube, or an epoxy glass tube. For enhanced performance, the load switching fuse cutout is equipped with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring efficient switching of on-off loading current.
In normal operations, the fuse link ensures the fuse tube remains in a closed position. Upon detecting system faults, fault currents lead to the immediate melting of the fuse, which rapidly generates an intense electric arc. This action heats and expels a significant amount of gas from the arc-extinguishing tube, creating high pressure that propels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, the mechanism is unlocked, and the fuse tube drops out, transitioning the cutout to an open position. To switch off the cutout under load conditions, operators utilize an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged. As the operator pulls further, the auxiliary contact separates, generating an electric arc between auxiliary contacts. This arc is elongated within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap, and simultaneous gas explosions swiftly extinguish the arc as the current passes zero.
