Outdoor Porcelain Ceramic Drop-out Fuse Cutout for Electric Power Transformer

The Drop-out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout are essential high-voltage protective devices designed for outdoor use. These crucial components connect seamlessly with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines, providing indispensable protection against short circuits and overloads. They are adept at managing on/off loading currents. Composed of insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube, the drop-out fuse cutout features static contacts fixed on both sides of the insulator support, while the moving contact is installed at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself is crafted from an inside arc-extinguishing tube, with an outer shell made of phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is enhanced with elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to effectively handle on-off loading currents.
Under normal operating conditions, a secure fuse link keeps the fuse tube firmly in place, maintaining a closed position. When a fault occurs within the system, the resultant fault current causes the fuse to melt instantaneously, disrupting the electrical circuit. This triggers the arc-extinguishing tube to release a substantial amount of gas due to heating, generating high pressure that displaces the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link is melted, the moving contact loses its tension, causing the mechanism to disengage and the fuse tube to drop, thus switching the cutout to the open position. For switching off during loading, an operator can utilize an insulating operating bar to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the main contact remains connected to the auxiliary static contact. As the pulling action continues, the auxiliary contact separates, generating an electric arc that elongates in the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing gas explosively dissipates the arc as the current reaches zero.
