High-Voltage 11kv Polymeric Expulsion Drop Out Fuse Cutout Switch

The Drop-Out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout are quintessential outdoor high voltage protective devices. Engineered to seamlessly integrate with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines, they are pivotal in safeguarding transformers and lines from the perils of short circuits and overloads. These devices also efficiently manage the on/off loading current. Constructed with precision, the drop-out fuse cutout comprises insulated insulator supports and a robust fuse tube. The static contacts, securely mounted on either side of the insulator support, work in harmony with the moving contacts situated at both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself is a marvel of engineering, featuring an internal arc-extinguishing tube encased in an outer shell of either phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is enhanced with enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, expertly designed to manage the switching of on-off loading current with precision and reliability.
Under normal operating conditions, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a steadfast closed position. However, should a fault occur within the system, the surge of fault current promptly melts the fuse, resulting in an immediate release of the electric arc. This ignites the arc-extinguishing tube, heating it and causing a significant expulsion of gases, which in turn creates high pressure that propels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link has melted, the moving contact loses its tensioned grip, triggering the mechanism to lock and causing the fuse tube to disengage or 'drop out,' thus transitioning the cutout to an open position. During a cutout loading switch-off, the operator utilizes an insulating operating bar to disengage the moving contact. Initially, the main contact maintains connection with the auxiliary static contact. As the operator continues to pull, the auxiliary contact separates, generating an electric arc. This arc is elongated within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap and, as the current approaches zero, the arc-extinguishing gases effectively extinguish the arc, ensuring a safe and controlled operation.
