Power High Voltage Current Limiting Polymer Drop Out Fuse Cutout

Our drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are engineered as outdoor high voltage protective devices. Seamlessly connecting with the incoming feeder of a distribution transformer or distribution lines, these devices excel in protecting transformers and lines from short circuits and overloads while facilitating efficient on/off current loading. The drop-out fuse cutout comprises insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube with static contacts firmly affixed on both sides, and a moving contact at each end of the fuse tube. The fuse tube is made up of an interior arc-extinguishing tube encased in an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout features enhanced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure that ensures secure switching of on-off loading currents.
Under normal operational conditions, the fuse link holds the fuse tube in a secure closed position. Upon the occurrence of a system fault, the resulting fault current instantly melts the fuse, initiating an electric arc. This event heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing a significant amount of gas, creating high pressure, which drives the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, activating the mechanism that drops the fuse tube, transitioning the cutout to an open position. To manually switch off the cutout during loading, operators use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged. However, as pulling continues, the auxiliary contact separates, causing an electric arc, which extends within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, the arc-extinguishing feature emits gas to extinguish the arc as the current approaches zero.
