Outdoor Porcelain Ceramic Drop-out Fuse Cutout for Electric Power Transformer

The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are sophisticated outdoor high voltage protective devices. Designed to seamlessly integrate with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, they offer robust protection against short circuits and overloads, while effectively managing on/off load current. The drop-out fuse cutout features a durable construction with insulator supports, a fuse tube, and static contacts. The design includes an inside arc-extinguishing tube with a choice between an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout is enhanced with auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring efficient current switching.
Under normal operation, the fuse link secures the tube in a closed position. When a fault occurs, the resulting current causes the fuse to melt swiftly, generating a powerful arc. This process heats the arc-extinguishing tube, releasing gas that creates high pressure and propels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, triggering the mechanism to unlock and the fuse tube to drop out, shifting the cutout to an open position. For manual operation during load switching, an operator uses an insulating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain connected. As the auxiliary contact separates, an electric arc forms, lengthening within the enclosure gap. Simultaneously, gas discharge extinguishes the arc when the current reaches zero.
