36kV Expulsion Load Break Fuse Cutout

The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout serve as essential outdoor high-voltage protective devices. They are designed to connect with the incoming feeders of distribution transformers or distribution lines, providing robust protection against short circuits and overloads, while facilitating the on/off loading of current. The drop-out fuse cutout features insulate insulator supports and a fuse tube. The static contacts are securely fixed on both sides of the insulator support, while the moving contact is strategically placed at both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself comprises an internal arc-extinguishing tube, surrounded by either an outer phenolic compound paper tube or an epoxy glass tube. Additionally, the load switching fuse cutout is equipped with reinforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to efficiently manage the switching of on-off loading current.
Under normal working conditions, the fuse link tightly secures the fuse tube, maintaining a closed position. However, in the event of a fault, the fault current causes the fuse to melt instantly, creating an electric arc. This process heats the arc-extinguishing tube, resulting in the release of a significant amount of gas. The ensuing high pressure propels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, causing the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, shifting the cutout to an open position. To switch off during cutout loading, the operator must use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged, but as the operator continues pulling, the auxiliary contact separates. This action generates an electric arc between the auxiliary contacts, which is then elongated within the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Simultaneously, arc-extinguishing gases are released to extinguish the arc as the current passes through zero.
