24kV 100A 200A Distribution Dropout Fuse Cutout with Fuse Link
The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are high voltage protective devices designed for outdoor use. They are essential companions to distribution transformers or lines, primarily engineered to safeguard against short circuits and overloads, as well as manage the on/off loading of current. The drop-out fuse cutout features a robust structure comprising insulating insulator supports and a fuse tube. Static contacts are securely mounted on either side of the insulator support, while the moving contact is affixed to the ends of the fuse tube. Inside, the fuse tube houses an arc-extinguishing assembly, surrounded by a durable outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout boasts enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing chamber, allowing efficient management of on-off loading current.
Under normal conditions, the fuse link, tightly fastened, ensures the fuse tube remains in a closed position. However, when a fault occurs in the system, the resulting fault current immediately melts the fuse, triggering an electric arc. This causes the arc-extinguishing tube to heat up and release a burst of gas, generating high pressure that expels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its fastening strength, causing the mechanism to unlock and the fuse tube to drop out, transitioning the cutout to an open state. To switch off the cutout during load, an operator uses an insulating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts remain engaged, but as the bar is pulled, the auxiliary contacts separate, creating an electric arc. This arc is lengthened in the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap, where it is ultimately blown out by the explosive gas as the current passes through zero.
