Our outdoor drop-out and load switching fuse cutouts are cutting-edge high voltage protective devices, ideal for connecting to the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines. Designed to safeguard against short circuits and overloads while seamlessly managing on/off loading current, our drop-out fuse cutout features insulated supports and a sophisticated fuse tube. The static contacts are securely affixed on either side of the insulator support, with a dynamic moving contact positioned at both ends of the fuse tube. This is engineered with an interior arc-extinguishing tube, encased by a robust phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout boasts reinforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to manage current loads effectively.
In normal operation, the fuse link secures the fuse tube in a closed position. When faults arise, the fault current immediately causes the fuse to melt, triggering the arc-extinguishing tube to heat up and release gas, generating high pressure that expels the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, causing the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, resulting in an open position. When switching off during loading, operators use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, both the main and auxiliary static contacts remain connected, but as pulling continues, the auxiliary contact separates, creating an electric arc. This arc is extended within the arc-extinguishing enclosure, where the expulsion of gas effectively extinguishes the arc as the current passes zero, ensuring safe operation.
