The Drop-out Fuse Cutout and Load Switching Fuse Cutout stand as robust outdoor high-voltage protective devices. Designed to seamlessly connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, they serve to shield your transformers and lines from potential short circuits and overloads, while managing on/off loading currents efficiently. Constructed with insulative insulator supports and fuse tubes, these units feature static contacts fixed securely on both sides of the insulator support, while the moving contact is ingeniously installed at either end of the fuse tube. This fuse tube is a marvel of engineering, comprising an inner arc-extinguishing tube, safeguarded by an outer shell made of phenolic compound paper or durable epoxy glass. The load switching fuse cutout is further enhanced with robust elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring seamless on-off loading current transitions.
In normal operations, the fuse link, when tightened, secures the fuse tube in a closed position. Should the system encounter faults, the resultant fault current swiftly melts the fuse, generating an electric arc. This activates the arc-extinguishing tube, which releases a significant amount of gas, creating high pressure to extinguish the arc efficiently. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tightened hold, causing the mechanism to unlock and the fuse tube to drop out, shifting the cutout to an open position. For manual switching off during loading, operators can use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts maintain connection. As the auxiliary contact disengages, an electric arc forms, which is then lengthened in the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap. Concurrently, the arc is extinguished by a burst of gas, effectively halting the current at its zero-crossing point.
