Outdoor Porcelain Ceramic Dropout Fuse Cutout for Electric Power Transformers

This drop-out fuse cutout, including the load switching fuse cutout, is an indispensable high-voltage protective device designed for outdoor use. Expertly engineered to be installed on the incoming feeder of a distribution transformer or lines, it serves a critical role in safeguarding transformers and lines from the hazards of short circuits and overloads. The device is adept at managing on/off loading current efficiently. It comprises insulator supports and a highly functional fuse tube. The static contacts are securely mounted on both sides of the insulator support, while the dynamic contact finds its place at the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube itself boasts an advanced design, featuring an inner arc-extinguishing tube encased within an outer structure made from durable phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. What sets the load switching fuse cutout apart is its robust auxiliary contacts and the arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring smooth and reliable on-off current performance.
In its standard operational mode, the fuse link fastens the fuse tube in a closed position. However, should any system faults arise, the resulting fault current causes the fuse to melt instantly, creating an electric arc. This event triggers the arc-extinguishing tube to heat up, producing an expansive release of gas. This action generates immense pressure within the tube, driving the arc outward. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, and the mechanism unlocks, causing the fuse tube to drop out and transitioning the cutout to an open position. For switching off during load conditions, an operator will use an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main and auxiliary static contacts maintain contact, but as the auxiliary contact separates, an electric arc emerges between them. This arc is then stretched across the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap, and the gas explosion efficiently extinguishes it as the current hits zero.
