33kV 100A High Voltage Fuse Cutout Switch

The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are outdoor high-voltage protection devices. They connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, primarily to safeguard transformers or lines from short circuits and overloads, while facilitating current on/off loading. The drop-out fuse cutout consists of insulated supports and a fuse tube; static contacts are secured on both sides of the insulator support, while the moving contact is installed on the ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube combines an internal arc-extinguishing tube with an outer shell of phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass tube. The load switching fuse cutout includes reinforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to manage on/off loading current.
Under normal operation, the fuse link holds the fuse tube in a closed position. When faults occur in the system, the fault current instantly melts the fuse and generates an electric arc, causing the arc-extinguishing tube to heat up and release gas, creating high pressure and blowing out the arc. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension and the fuse tube is released, putting the cutout in an open position. For switching off during loading, the operator uses an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact; initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain connected. As the auxiliary contact separates, an electric arc forms, which is elongated in the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap and extinguished by the burst of gas as the current reaches zero.
