24kV 100A 200A Distribution Dropout Fuse Cutout with Fuse Link
The Drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are essential high-voltage protective devices designed for outdoor use. These units, when connected to the incoming feeder of a distribution transformer or distribution lines, offer robust protection against short circuits and overloads, while also managing the on/off loading current. The Drop-out fuse cutout comprises insulate insulator supports and a fuse tube, with static contacts affixed on either side of the insulator support and a moving contact mounted on both ends of the fuse tube. The fuse tube includes an inside arc-extinguishing tube, crafted from an outer phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass tube, while the load switching fuse cutout features enforced elastic auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure to switch on and off the loading current with finesse.
Under normal operating conditions, the fuse link tightens the fuse tube, securing it in a closed position. Should a fault occur in the system, the fault current causes the fuse to melt promptly, generating an electric arc. This heats the arc-extinguishing tube, which then releases a significant volume of gas, creating high pressure and a blow of the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tightness, causing the mechanism to lock and the fuse tube to drop out, putting the cutout in an open position. When switching off is required during cutout loading, the operator uses an insulating operating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged. As the pull continues, the auxiliary contact separates, generating an electric arc between the auxiliary contacts. This arc lengthens in the arc-extinguishing enclosure gap, while the arc-extinguishing gas expels the arc as the current approaches zero.
