The drop-out fuse cutout and load switching fuse cutout are state-of-the-art outdoor high voltage protective devices. Ingeniously designed to connect with the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or lines, their primary function is to shield transformers or lines from short circuits and overloads while managing the on/off load current. The dropout fuse cutout consists of rugged insulator supports and a robust fuse tube. With static contacts securely affixed on both sides of the insulator support and a moving contact at each end of the fuse tube, this product is built for reliability. The fuse tube features an ingenious inner arc-extinguishing mechanism within an outer shell made from durable phenolic compound paper or epoxy glass. The load switching fuse cutout is enhanced with resilient auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguishing enclosure, ensuring seamless on-off load current management.
In regular operations, the fuse link keeps the fuse tube secured in a closed position. However, upon system faults, the fault current swiftly melts the fuse, initiating an electrical arc. The arc-extinguishing tube then heats up, producing gas that creates a high-pressure environment, driving the arc along the tube. Once the fuse link melts, the moving contact loses its tension, the mechanism locks, and the fuse tube drops, transitioning the cutout to an open position. For deliberate switching off during loading, an operator can use an insulating bar to pull the moving contact. Initially, the main contact and auxiliary static contact remain engaged. As the operator continues, the auxiliary contact disengages, creating an electric arc that the arc-extinguishing enclosure extends and nullifies, ensuring safe current interruption.
